In this module, participants will be evaluating sample coaching calls to improve their coaching techniques. By using a simple t-chart to assess each call, they will be able to identify strengths and areas for improvement in the coaching process. Through this analysis, participants will gain a deeper understanding of effective coaching strategies and how to apply them in their own coaching sessions. This module will help coaches enhance their skills and address any challenges they may face in their coaching practice by listening to the introductory sessions of other students.

Coach-the-Coach Calls
When evaluating coaching calls in the context of the Coach-the-Coach Sample Calls, analyze them based on the notes and lessons learned from any previous coaching experiences. Create a quick t-chart of +’s and -‘s for evaluation. Draw this chart in your course journal for each session that you evaluate.
In the audio calls provided, assess the effectiveness of the coach in communicating with Coach D. Evaluate whether the coach is able to clearly articulate their thoughts and provide constructive feedback. Pay attention to the tone of voice, level of engagement, and overall communication skills demonstrated in the call.
Additionally, consider the coach’s ability to create a safe and supportive environment for Coach D to share her thoughts and concerns. Evaluate whether the coach actively listens, asks probing questions, and encourages reflection and growth.
Lastly, assess the coach’s effectiveness in helping Coach D to set goals, develop action plans, and monitor progress. Look for evidence of effective goal-setting, accountability, and follow-up on the call.
In summary, when evaluating coaching calls in the Coach-the-Coach Sample Calls, it is important to assess the coach’s communication skills, ability to create a supportive environment, and effectiveness in helping their client to set and achieve goals. These key points will help determine the overall success of the coaching session:
Communication skills – clear articulation, constructive feedback
Creating a supportive environment – active listening, asking probing questions
Goal-setting and monitoring progress – effective goal-setting, accountability, follow-up
